Rapid City, South Dakota is a fun place. It is the "City of the Presidents" because downtown on every corner in a certain area there is a statue of every President of the United States from George Washington to George W. Bush. My girls had a lot of fun posing with each one--there were 40. Mr J didn't last that long, but the girls enjoyed it. Don't worry, I didn't put all 40 pictures on here, but just a few. Enjoy!
If you have ever been anywhere in South Dakota, then I think you have seen a sign for Wall Drug. After driving along I-90 across the whole state we had seen about 100 of them, so we had to go see what this was all about. It is a big, big store with just about everything. Kind of fun and a nice stop along the way.
Ben was our master packer of the van, which he had to unpack and repack way too many times. Bless his heart! He is a pro at it!
So onto the City of the Presidents. This is the statue of Lincoln with his son
Miss E and James Madison
Truman and the girls.
Can't remember. . .but Miss E liked playing with the birds with him.
Can't remember either, but his hat was cool.
Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence. The girls thought that was pretty neat.
Me and George Washington--my favorite.
I think this was Nixon :)
And then George W. Bush. Love the thumbs up, and he was carrying his dog.
It was a fun walk. The statues were designed to be 'interactive' so perfect photo shoots. There were several others getting all the photos like us.
Tomorrow Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills National Forest. Have a great day!
What a fun place to visit! Great shots with the statues. I love how the kids got into it. That's a lot of statues. We've never been that far east except in airports. My parents usually work at the KOA as campground hosts in Mt Rushmore. Can't wait to see those pictures. Looks like a wonderful trip so far. My poor hubby gets stuck with the packing and un-packing too. Not a fun chore but he's usually the one who brings too much stuff so serves him right ;0)
ReplyDeleteJen - have you read Glenn Beck's "Becoming George Washington"? I'm in the middle of reading it to my kids and it's amazing! Definitely worth your time.
