2022 Blue Jeans Week 25

For our vacation we spent a week in St. Louis outside the city at a cool resort and enjoyed the quiet resort and then ventured into the city a few days too.  Take a look at our week...
Happy Father's day to the best Dad ever!  Miss E and Mr J got up early and made him a special breakfast.

For our vacation, we assigned everyone to come up with a fun activity.  Mr and Mrs JC did a family feud game that we were able to include Mr and Mrs A over the phone on.  We missed not having them there, but it was fun to do the game with them on the phone.

We went to Six Flags one day which was a lot of fun and hot, and we got very wet of several of the rides which helped to keep us cool!

For Mr J's activity, he got 420 water balloons which we had fun throwing at each other.

Those easy fill water balloons are the best!  So quick and easy!

Miss E's activity was bringing home about 15 different European chocolate bars for us to try and decide which was our favorite.  Man, there was some good chocolate!

Went to see the Arch which is very impressive!

Went to get frozen custard at Ted Drewes which has been around in St. Louis for over 90 years.  Yummy!

Spent a day in the awesome Forest Park.

Went to see the musical Camelot at the Muny theater in Forest Park.  So fun!

My activity was decorating sugar cookies.  I had made them before we left and frozen them.  Yummy creations!

Some pretty impressive cookie creations!

Mr J's were very impressive :)

Nice job Mr JC! and best part was they tasted good!

Ben's activity was marshmallow and toothpick sculptures.  These two made a desert dome from the Omaha zoo that they went to before they came to see us.

Miss E and I made the Roman Colosseum.

Ben and Mr J made the Salt Lake Temple.  So much fun!

Super fun week together.  Missed Mr and Mrs A so much!  Had lots of fun and it is always kind of sad to head home, but we made lots of great memories!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are healthy and happy and well!  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 24

We recovered from COVID this week and then Mr JC and Mrs OC came to visit!  Yeah!  We enjoyed them at home and then we all headed on vacation together but we were really missing Mr and Mrs A!!  Take a look at our week....
So happy to have Mr and Mrs C here!

We had fun exploring with them.

Love walking with my girls in the morning but missing Mrs A!

So Mr JC had never used a riding lawn mower, so he helped Miss E mow the lawn one day.  He had an audience :)

When Miss E was in Italy she took a pasta making class, so one day for dinner this week she made us homemade pasta, and it was SOOOO good!

Miss E was in Europe for her birthday, so we had a belated celebration when she got back.

Heading out on vacation.  We stopped at Lambert's to eat where they throw rolls at you.  They are yummy!

Made it to our condo for the week and had fun playing some games together.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and happy and healthy where you are!  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 23

Crazy last few weeks.  I am behind.  This week was just nuts.  Thankfully Miss E got home but she wasn't feeling well and neither was I.  We both tested positive for COVID.  Thankfully we were both fully vaccinated and got our booster, so it was extremely mild, just a cold.  So thankful for that!  So she and I isolated so Ben and Mr J didn't get sick, and thankfully they didn't!  What a week!  Take a look...
Sunday game of Qwirkle.  Lots of fun!

Mr J and his Star Wars legos he has been working on.

Miss E is home!  She spent 6 weeks in Europe on a study abroad and had a wonderful time!  We are so glad she is home now!

And look what she brought us!!! How lucky are we!  Yummy!

And then on the down side, both Miss E and I tested positive for COVID.  She got is somewhere on her trip and I am not sure where I got it.

A family call with 4 of us in the same house but isolated from each other.  Funny!

Miss E and I made this yummy banana pudding to celebrate feeling better and being out of our 5 days of isolation.  Crazy stuff!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and happy and well!  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 22

So this past week was kind of crazy.  We enjoyed the 3 day weekend and then had two days of work and then Ben, Mr J and I left for a 3 day youth church retreat in Nauvoo, Illinois.  It was an adventure!  Take a look...
Sunday game this week was Roll It.  It is a fun dice game that is super easy and fast to play.

Happy Memorial Day!  So grateful for the men and women who have given their all for us so we can have the freedoms we do!  We honor them and their families for their sacrifice for us.  Mr J had to work all day as it was opening day at the pool, so Ben and I enjoyed roasting hot dogs and making s'mores and riding bikes.  It was a beautiful day!

So we are on a bus with 60 teenagers aged 14-18 for a 6 hour drive to a church youth retreat.  We are excited :)  There were 5 buses full of 250 kids and lots of adults.  It is going to be fun!

First night of the retreat we went to an outdoor musical show that was so good!

We were assigned a group of 17 kids and were in charge of them and getting them around.  The highlight was taking them to the temple to serve.  Such a beautiful place!

Glad I got to do this with this cute guy!

'
Visiting historic sites as part of the retreat.  In Carthage, Illinois

Had lots of fun with these kids over the last 3 days. Not a lot of sleep, but lots of fun!  A great group of kids!

And these were the other adults that had their own groups of 17 that were on the bus with us and we did things together over the 3 days.  There were 240 kids total and lots of adults, and it was a great experience.  We made new friends and had fun, but man were we tired at the end of it!  A 6 hour bus ride home, plus a 2 hour car ride, and we were very glad to get in our own beds!!!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and happy and well!  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 21

I am behind.  We have had a busy two weeks.  School is out.  Mr J ran at the state track meet and did awesome, and he also had a birthday in there too.  Take a look...
Our Sunday game this week was Yahtzee.  What a classic and lots of fun.  Ben remembers playing it with his grandma as a kid.

Went to lunch with my dad.  Grateful that we live close and we can spend time together!

New recipe.  This is a filled wool roll.  It had a lemon raspberry cream cheese filling. It was yummy but we decided it needed a glaze on it like a cinnamon roll.  Will have to make it again. Found the recipe at King Arthur's Baking.

Mr J's old elementary school is being torn down as a new one has been built.  When he was in 4th grade he made this sunflower picture that the school principal made into this window cling at the front door, so we had to get a picture of his original 4th grade picture with the window picture before it is no longer around.  We walked through the school together to all his old classrooms.  Fun memories.

Mr J's birthday lunch request was .....McDonalds...not my choice but that's ok.  It was what he wanted.

For his birthday cake he decided he wanted sugar cookies to make and decorate.

Happy 17th birthday to this amazing kid!  We sure love him!

Mr J and his birthday cookie cake

Mr J lining up for the 2 mile race at the huge state track meet.

So proud of this kid!  He improved his time by 20 seconds!!! It was a super fast race and he did so well!  A great end to the track season and the school year!

Date night this week was a bike ride on the trails.  One of our favorite things to do.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and healthy and happy where you are!  Have a great week!
