2014 Daily December 5--Christmas Program #1

First of 4 school Christmas programs was this week.  It was Mr. J's elementary school program.  I just love those.  I am so grateful we live in a community where our kids have a Christmas program and can still sing "Silent Night" and talk about Baby Jesus being born.  What a blessing!
Mr. J singing his heart out.  He looks so handsome in his suit and red Christmas tie!

He got to play the xylophone for one song, and that was cool!  He did a good job!

So grateful for this Christmas season!

2013 Daily December 19--Christmas programs

I do have 4 kids so I guess it should come as no surprise that I had 4 Christmas programs.  It was nice when they were all in one school or not even in school, but not anymore.  So here is a look at our Christmas program season. . .
Mr J is our lone elementary kid.  This grade got to play the recorders.  So fun!

And sing.

He is a good singer and looked so sharp in his suit and tie!

And then there was Middle School band. . .

In that above picture there are 85 kids (7th/8th grade) on that stage.  Miss E was in there somewhere, and Ben was able to catch a peek of her here.  She plays the trombone.

And Miss O playing her French horn.

And then they was middle school jazz band 2

Miss O plays the trumpet there

And then middle school Jazz Band 1 with Miss O on the piano

She was awesome on that!

And then there was high school choir

Miss A does that.

And the high school top sing/dance choir.  Miss A in the middle

The girls did a cute number

And then she had a cute dance partner for the rest of the program.  Fun stuff!

Love Christmas programs--even in 4's :)

Daily December 10--Week 49

Enjoying the month.  We had the elementary Christmas program this past week.  So glad we live in a small town where it is still a Christmas program, and you can still sing songs about Christ and the real meaning of Christmas.  I am so grateful for that.  Still doing my daily December blogging, so stop by often.  Here is a look at our week. . .

Sunday evening treats are a big tradition in our house.  Mr J helped me make chocolate chip cookies.  I posted the recipe in yesterday's blog post if you are interested.

School Christmas program.  Mr J was a toy soldier. So cute!!!

Miss E sang, played the alto recorder, and played the xylophone.  She did awesome!!!

Another Christmas tradition at our house--Celebrating Sinterklass Eve.  More about that in this post.

This evening we didn't have anything going on.  We were supposed to do 'star gazing' tonight which was the activity on our Christmas countdown chain (more about that tomorrow), but it was cloudy.  It was pretty warm out, and Ben decided it would be fun to do a bonfire and sing carols while the kids burned sticks.  It was a very nice, relaxing evening that the kids really enjoyed.  Ben and the kids built a fire pit in our backyard several years ago which we love, and it was so nice to enjoy this evening.

Mr J and I made some Nutter Butter reindeer cookies for a church party today.  They are the easiest Christmas cookies to make ever!

Our church Christmas party was this evening.  They had the youth sing some songs at the end.  Good food, good company, and great music always make for a wonderful evening!

Thanks for visiting and hope you had a great week!

Daily December 27: Blue Jeans Week 49

What a week, what a week--you prepare and prepare for this time of year and it goes so quickly, but we enjoyed it.  I hope you did too.
Sunday:  Before Church we had a little bit of quiet time, and Mr J read to Miss E.  Yes, my kids fight like cats and dogs, but every once in a while they get a long, and we have some nice peace.  I try to get pictures of those moments so I can remember them amidst the cat and dog fights :)
Monday:  Christmas goodie plates--got them ready and delivered

Tuesday:  School Christmas program.  Miss E is in the middle black and white dress playing the alto recorder.  I am so grateful that my kids go to a public school and they can sing "Silent Night," "Away in a manger," and talk about the real meaning of Christmas-- their classrooms have a nativity set in them.  I count that a blessing of living in a small town.

Wednesday:  We made big, soft gingerbread men cookies tonight--a favorite Christmas tradition

Thursday:   Around Christmas we always like to go up to the big city for a night to see the lights and spend a night in a hotel with an indoor pool--another fun Christmas tradition
Friday:  Miss A's birthday and her cake.  It is a tradition at our house that the birthday kid gets to decorate their own cake.  My kids love doing that.  They get to do it with their Dad.
Friday picture #2: Another Christmas tradition is the kids always get to sleep by the Christmas tree the night of the 23rd.

Separate posts for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day--how can you possibly have only one picture for those days? :)
