2022 Blue Jeans Week 12

We had a good week.  Slowly but surely easing into spring.  Had a birthday and it was a great day.  Take a look at our week...
Our college kids got together for a sushi making night.  Yum!  Miss E was in heaven!

Donated blood this week.  Always a good thing when I can do that!

Ben and Mr J grinding pepper to make a Cane's chicken knock off sauce.  It was yummy!

Girls Lunch Out with my amazing friends!  Classic burger, fries and milk shakes!  Can't get better than that!

For my birthday, Ben took the day off and we headed to the city. Served in the temple and loved their beautiful spring flowers!  Went to lunch and shopping.  Perfect birthday!

Happy birthday to me!  We got a Costco cheesecake and Ben made his amazing lemon curd to go on top.  So good!

Date night this week was a movie and a puzzle.

Game this week was King Domino.  So many fun games that we love!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are healthy and safe and happy!  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 11

We had spring break last week and we actually had some spring like weather mixed with some winter.  We did enjoy the nice days when we had them.  Got away for a few days and went to some museums and did some bike riding.  It was a good week.  Take a look...
For Pi Day, we had chicken pot pie!  Yum!

Beginning of spring break and Mr J got out all his old wooden train tracks and Thomas trains and made this pretty amazing train track in the front entry.

They burn the fields around us in the spring.  Not my favorite thing, but this evening they were burning the fields right out our back yard.  Kind of scary to see a fire that close, but they do a good job to monitor them and keep them where they need to be.

Hello March Madness!  We got our brackets ready!  We do a family competition, the one who has the more correct wins $1 for each one they got right.  I think Mr J won last year and got 38 right, so will see how we do this year!

Happy St. Patrick's day! We had our traditional green dinner.  Yum!

Got away for a few days at the end of the week and went to Bentonville, Arkansas.  They have an amazing art museum called Crystal Bridges which we love.

They had a Frank Lloyd Wright house on their grounds that we got to tour which was neat to see.  Weather one day was cold, cloudy and drizzly.  That was the day we went to all the inside museums.

The next day was beautiful and perfect for bike riding.  There are miles and miles of trails around Bentonville.  We were about an hour in and I got a flat tire.  Good thing Ben has a patch kit and pump on his bike!  We went back and had breakfast and got ready to go out biking again.

Exploring some of the trails on NW Arkansas.  So pretty!

We loved the Razorback Regional Greenway trail!

Just put the bikes inside the van since we only had 3 of us on this trip.  Lots of fun!  A great spring break trip!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and happy and well where you are!  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 10

We had another cold week!  More snow, but this coming week we may have more spring like weather which is good because it is spring break and we want to be outside!  It was a good week.  Take a look...
Our Sunday evening game was Quixx which is a fun dice game we all like.

Ben and I did a puzzle together one cold evening this week while listening to an audio book together.

Woke up to this on Friday morning which was our first day of Spring Break.  Hello Spring break and several inches of snow!

Saturday we went up to the city and attended the temple with these amazing youth from our church.

Fun to be there with these two handsome guys!

My college kids got together with some of their cousins for a fun weekend up at my grandma's cabin.  So happy to see them together!  They had so much fun!

Date night this week, we rented this movie.  So good!  Highly recommend if you haven't seen it already!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and well wherever you are.  Have a great week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 9

We had glorious weather this past week.  Every day was in the 70's.  It felt like spring was here, and we loved it!  Sadly this week we are back to 30's and rain and snow.  Welcome to March!  Take a look at our week...
My February cake was a lemon bar cake with a shortbread crust on the lemon cake, lemon curd and lemon frosting.  Yummy!  Lemon curd is one of our favorite things! Recipe from Cake by Courtney.

We have 3 new board members on our school board after recent elections.  This is our new board.

Got our free COVID tests in the mail.  Had to document that!

Every Wednesday evening we feed the missionaries from our church and this young man has been here for the last 7 months, and we have gotten to know him well at our weekly dinners. He is moving on, so we got a good-bye picture with him.  We wish him well!  He is a great missionary!

Enjoying a sunny and 70 degree day by sitting on the front porch swing and reading.  Enjoying it while we can!

Mr J had a jazz band competition this week which I was able to attend.  He had a solo and did a great job!

Mr J and his jazz band and amazing band director!

Had 2 date nights this week.  One we went to see the play The Miracle Worker and then on Saturday we took Mr J with us to hear our local area symphony concert which was VERY good!

Hope you had a great week!  Thanks for visiting!  Stay safe and healthy and well!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 8

What a crazy week!  Waking up one day to a totally different world than you have ever known.  Prayers for Ukraine! It is just so sad!  On our home front, Ben and I had half the week with no kids home.  Mr J was at state band for half the week, so we had an "empty nest" experiment.  Our highlight of the week was attending Mr J's state band concert which was flat out amazing!!!  So good!  It brought us to tears!  Music is so powerful!  Take a look at our week...
Walking down the stairs this has been my living room view all weekend and into Monday.  A few games we played on the cedar chest, Mr J's legos he was working on over the weekend and a few books everywhere that we are all reading.  Real life snapshot right here.

Mr J heading to state band.  So proud of his hard work and excited for this experience for him!

Went to lunch with one of my dearest friends and we got some really yummy pie!  Good pie and great friends--you cannot beat that combo!

Date night this week was a movie in---we watched Respect which was about the life of Aretha Franklin, and it was interesting and also such a sad, hard life!

Highlight of the week was getting to attend Mr J's state band concert.  Amazing!!!!  So, so so good!

Mr J's high school band teacher that accompanied him to the state band this week plus my mom to hear his concert.  We were so proud of him!  It was amazing!

Hope you are safe and healthy where you are!  Prayers for so many things right now!  Have a good week!

2022 Blue Jeans Week 7

Hello!  Hope you had a good week!  We had another crazy winter storm and school was cancelled for a day last week.  We stayed home safe and warm!  We enjoyed the Olympics and are sad they are over.  Such inspiring stories!  Enjoyed our Valentine's dinner at my mom's.  It was a good week.  Take a look...
For Valentine's day we always make heart shaped sugar cookies and decorate them.  A yummy and favorite tradition!

Ben got these exercise hula hoops super cheap and he needs them for a project coming up, but he and Jesse had fun building with them one day this week.

Had our traditional Valentine's day dinner at my mom's this week.  This has been a tradition in our family that my great grandma started when my grandma was a little girl.  There is a box in the middle that has strings coming out of it to each place setting.  When you are done eating you pull the string and a little wrapped present comes out of the box.  A fun tradition we all love!

Happy Valentine's to my favorite!  Mr J gave us these cute mugs for Valentine's day.

Church youth activity this week was making pizzas.  Yum!

Had rain turn to ice and then to about 4 inches of snow one day this week.  School was cancelled so we stayed home and were safe and warm!

Mr J and I made some mini pizzas for lunch on the day school was cancelled.

Tried my hand at a new bread recipe.  It used my sour dough starter.  A homemade loaf of bread is always so cool especially when it looks like it is supposed to!

Date this week was playing some new games.  Our library has a good selection of  board games and so we went to the library and checked out some new ones and played them for our date this week. This is Hanabi, and we really liked it!

The college kids had an Olympic watching party together with lots of yummy food.  Fun to see them together!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are safe and healthy and happy where you are!  Have a great week!
