2020 Blue Jeans Week 48

We have so very much to be thankful for!  As I heard recently "counting our blessings in far better than recounting our problems" from Russel M Nelson.  So true!  Thanksgiving this year was very different, but it was still nice and we enjoyed it.  I am thankful all my kids were able to celebrate in a safe place where they felt welcomed!  I am thankful we are all healthy and well at this time.  I am thankful we have a job, a home, cars, food, and never go without!  So much to be thankful for!  Take a look at our week....

Sunday we had church online which is different, but it was a special large area meeting, so it was done virtually.  Church at home today.  So grateful that we are able to worship again!

Enjoyed a fun hike one day this week.  Sure love hiking on the trails near our house.  We are so grateful for them and the ability we have to quickly get out into nature.

Piano recital this week.  Mr J did a great job on his solo.  So proud of him!  We are grateful for music!

Mr J also did a duet with his friends.  They did Scott Joplin's The Entertainer and did an awesome job!  So grateful for the beautiful church we were able to have the recital in, masks on and socially distanced, hand sanitizer and temperature checks, but so glad we could have it!

Thanksgiving prep, this kid tried his hand at a homemade apple pie, and it was soooo good!  

Happy Thanksgiving to us!  Just us 3, but it was still super yummy food and a great day with lots to be thankful for! 

Miss A and Mr A were at his family's for Thanksgiving and had a great time!

My other two girls went to Ben's sister's for Thanksgiving since they could not come home.  So grateful for her and making them feel so welcomed!!!

Day after Thanksgiving is always Christmas decorating day at our house.  We got up our crazy big 12 foot tree and get the house all decorated.  It is an all day project!

Saturday we did the outside lights and then worked on neighbor gifts.  We normally do some homemade food, but didn't feel that was appropriate this year, so we decided to make Christmas countdown candles which have been a tradition in Ben's family since he was a kid.  His dad makes them every year for all the family, so we decided to share that tradition this year.  Ben is melting crayon and using that to write on the candle.  We are thankful for family traditions and that we get to share them this year.

2017 Blue Jeans Week 47

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving week!  My sister and her family were here for the week which was awesome!  Hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for 25 and had gorgeous weather!  Enjoyed some hiking and biking on our days off and got the house decorated for Christmas.  A great week!  So very, very much to be thankful for!  Take a look. . .

My sister and her cute family drove from Utah to be with us for Thanksgiving week.  We went exploring on the trails and found a cool cave!

2014 Daily December 2--week 48

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving week!  So much to be thankful for!  As my daily December today I am sharing my photos from last week.  Here is a look at our week. . .

After all that hard work of decorating, we needed a break, so we went to the movies.  We saw Big Hero 6 and really enjoyed it!

Saturday was really warm, so we took advantage of the nice evening and had a bonfire and roasted marshmallows and made smores.  Yum!

Thanksgiving review

We had a wonderful and very blessed Thanksgiving.  We enjoyed it with some family and lots of friends.  Here is a look at our day. . .

We ended the evening with our traditional Thanksgiving stories and a movie--How to Train your Dragon 2.  It was a great day!  So much to be Thankful for!!!

What's up Wednesday--Turkey veggie tray and Thanksgiving prep

 Getting ready for Thanksgiving here.  We have hosted at my house for the last 8 years.  Thanksgiving dinner is more close friends than family.  My parents will be here plus my sister and her husband, but then just lots of close friends.  We look forward to it every year.  I am working on my menu and shopping list. Wanted to share what Miss A made last year.  She is doing it again this year.  It turned out so cute!   Her Turkey veggie tray. . . 

Just broccoli, peppers, carrots, celery, and then to make the turkey in the veggie dip she cut up the peppers for the feet, wings and beak.  The head is a water chestnut, or you could use a mushroom.  The eyes are mini chocolate chips.  It was a hit!

My 2014 Thanksgiving dinner menu. . .After we eat my friend Robyn and my Mom always share some Thanksgiving stories.  Then we always play football and then watch a movie.  It is a fun day!  Hope you all have a wonderful one!  Happy planning!

2013 Thanksgiving Review

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day yesterday.  I hope yours was wonderful too!  Today we are cleaning the house, decorating for Christmas inside and out and getting family pictures taken.  Let the holiday crazy begin!  Here is a look at our Thanksgiving Day. . .

Pre-Thanksgiving joy to share

So I know today is a busy day.  No one needs a new recipe today, right?  Here is all my lists and recipes ready to go.  We are making as much stuff as we can today.  The kids have school off, so they are in charge of certain recipes and setting the table and decorating it.  They are excited.

It is going to be yummy!  

And our Tree of Thanks is looking good.

Thanksgiving Week 2012

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week.  It was so nice to be with our family that we see so little.  It was a long drive, but well worth it.  We got to do lots of fun things while we were there.

We were able to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and see their Music and the Spoken Word performance.  It was amazing.  They had the huge orchestra and the bell choir there also.  A great way to start the week.

We got to visit the Salt Lake Temple where we were married 17 years ago next month (really, 17 years?  Where did the time go?  He hasn't changed a bit except he has gotten cuter)

And trips are sure fun, but man they make you tired too :)

Got to finally go to Kneaders for breakfast with Grandma, Mr J, and Miss E.  YUM!  Their French Toast is amazing!

Got to go to my grandparents' cabin.  So fun there!  My kids were a little disappointed there wasn't snow.  The week before they had 2 feet of snow, but we had beautiful, sunny, 60 degree weather while we were there.  I wasn't complaining.

Thanksgiving!  The girl cousin table--so much fun and so much yummy food!  So much to be thankful for!!!

And finally the lights at Temple Square are amazing and so glad my kids were able to see them for the first time.

And the 1000+ mile trip home went great until we were about 60 miles from home, I was driving, and our tire blew.  Ugh.  So glad Ben knows what to do :)  So the return trip was a little longer than we expected, but we all made it home safe and sound and grateful for the wonderful time we had.  We are so blessed.
