2017 Blue Jeans Week 16

Big, busy week!  Easter, piano competition and PROM!!!  It was our first prom ever since Miss A never had any desire to go when she was in high school.  Big, long weekend, but it was good.  We survived and are still trying to catch up on our sleep, but it is all good.  Take a look at our week. . .
Easter Sunday!  My beautiful kids!  I guess we were going for a blue/gray theme, but I don't think we meant to do that :)

Easter dinner at my Mom's.  Mr J helped her make her famous bunny-buns that she has been making every Easter since I was little.  They are yummy!

Easter dinner was a very fancy affair this year.  Mr J helped my mom get ready and they used the gold plates :)

And my Miss A who we were missing on Easter sent me her Easter picture with her cute roommate and some of the beautiful flowers on campus.

Piano competition for Mr J and Miss E.  They did awesome!  Both got gold medals!!!

And hello prom!  Prom is a big deal in our small town school.  Miss O and her cute date.  This was her first date ever.

They looked classy in their black, white and red.

Off they go do the junior prom dinner, then to the grand march.

The grand march involves each couple driving up to the school in their car, getting out, and walking up to the main entrance of the school.  It is a huge community event that everyone comes out for.  Lots of fun!  Lots of pictures and then the kids go into the dance in the school and everyone else leaves.

The Prom is put on by the juniors and Miss O is the junior class president, so she has been working really hard to decorate and get things ready for the dance this week.  The after prom is put on by the junior parents--so us :)  So after the dance the kids came to a big gym and we had food--pancakes!  games and lots of activities until 3 a.m.  Then we all headed home and crashed!  Long day, but lots of fun!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a great week!!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 15

We had a great pre-Easter week.  Miss O and I did another college visit, Mr J and I worked a track meet on a glorious day, Miss E had 2 track meets this past week, and we had a mini egg hunt and dyed eggs with friends plus had a beautiful Easter rain. Take a look at our week. . .
Miss O and I did another college visit this past week.  We went to K-State.  We like it a lot.  We also liked they had a Chick-fil-A on campus :)  Their frozen lemonades are divine!

No school for Mr J today because his school was hosting an all-day track meet.  Both he and I helped run it.  We did discus and shot put.  22 schools attended, and it was a beautiful day!!!

Miss E went on a fun field trip to a medical center and got to visit this nurses's lab.  She is thinking she wants a career in the medical field, so this was a good trip for her!

And Miss E had two track meets this week---she is rockin' those 300 meter hurdles!  Go Miss E, Go!

We had a little impromptu egg hunt with some friends.  It was a beautiful sunny day!

Then we had lots of fun being really creative and dyeing eggs with them.

Some of their awesome egg creations!

Caught a shoot of a beautiful afternoon rainstorm we had.  Love how everything is getting so green!  Welcome spring!!

Thanks for coming!  Hope you had a blessed Easter and a great week!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 14

Running behind is the name of the game right now.  April/May are always CRAZY!!!  We are literally running with Miss E in track.  This week was Miss O's play which was awesome!  So much fun!  And it was piano recital week.  Ugh!  All good, but crazy.  I saw someone say they were "blessed and stressed."  Yeah, that would describe it.  Here is a look at our week. . .
Saturday and Sunday was our semi-annual General Conference for our church.  It is televised all over the world, so church this Sunday was enjoyed at home.  Amazing meetings!  So helpful and inspiring!

Our 5 chickens are back to regular laying now that the weather is warmer, which is great because we love their eggs!  Mr J shows what he collected from the chicken coop today.

And Hello to The Music Man!  Love the girl in green!

The kids did an awesome job!!!  Love that musical!

And these cute ladies were the best!  Pick-a-little, talk-a-little, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep!

Mr J had some little friends he got to help watch Saturday morning.  They were here early, so he made them chocolate chip pancakes which are his specialty.

And then we had piano recital--Miss E did amazing on her song!

And Mr J had two songs--a solo which he did awesome at and then this duet with his friend which was excellent also!  Great job!  It is always nice for them to showcase their hard work!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you all had a good week!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 13

Getting back to the normal routine after spring break is always a challenge.  5:30 comes really early!  How many weeks until Summer??? :)  but we are all good.  Miss O is in the high school musical of The Music Man which she performs next week, so that keeps her busy.  Miss E had her first track meet.  Hello spring and the crazy of April/May here we come!  As I look at the calendar I remember that April/May easily top December as the busiest and craziest time of the year here.  At least we don't have a graduation to deal with this year....but next year...but let's not think about that now :)  Take a look at our week. . .
We visited a local African Safari museum.  It was pretty cool.  Don't they look excited?  You would think they would look scared with those guys behind them...

Pretty cool African instruments and lion on the wall!

Mr J loves to make a few things---peanut butter cheerios bars are one of his favorites--muddy buddies are a close second :)

Love hearing this girl play the piano!

Did some pictures today.  Sure love these kids and sure miss the one not there!  But just a few more weeks and Miss A will be home for the summer!

I read a book about the filming of this movie and then decided that my kids needed to see it.  I didn't remember it was 4 hours long!  But is was fun, except they were all very disappointed with the ending, "What!!!??? That was the end???!!  That is a horrible ending, Mom!"  It still amazes me that they started filming this in January and released it in November of the SAME year!

Hello spring!  Saw this recipe for carrot cake on Mel's Kitchen Cafe and had to make it.  It is sooooo good!!!  Love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting--of course!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week!
