2018 Blue Jeans Week 30

Just about 2 1/2 weeks of summer left there, and we intend to enjoy it!  Last week was a good week.  My girls decided they needed to go on a girls trip, so they took off work and headed out for a few days together.  Mr J got to hang with Ben and me which we tried to make not too boring.  We had some visitors and watched some friends kids, and had a great week.  Take a look. . .
A former missionary came back to visit with his family.  That was fun to meet them all and see him again.

My girls getting ready to head off together for a girls get away for a few days.

A summer project for Mr J--he made himself a pillow from an old t-shirt.  Pretty awesome!

For a few days this week Mr J and I helped out a friend and watched her kids.  The weather was nice, so we enjoyed playing at the park with them.

A picture from my girls on their trip this week.  They enjoyed an art museum, nature trails, shopping and eating yummy food and of course being together!

Saturday morning Ben and I enjoyed a bike ride together.  We have some awesome bike trails by our house that we love.

Mr J decided he wanted to make a cake this week, so he did.  It was a vanilla cake with mint frosting in the middle and covered with chocolate frosting and mint frosting to decorate.  Yummy!  He practiced his decorating on graham crackers.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a good week and that your summer is going well!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 29

Fun summer week...last swim meet for Mr J, and he was in a play.  He has been attending a children's theater workshop for the last two weeks, and their big play to end the workshop was this week.  He was the British host of a cooking show.  So fun!   We had a great week, take a look. . .
We have a yummy BBQ place in our town and Mr J was my date to lunch one day.  Yummy!

Last swim meet of the season....On your marks, get set...

Go!   Mr J!  Go!  He had a great swim team season!

Nothing says summer like fresh corn on the cob from a local farmer!  Yum!  Soooo good!

And Mr J's theater workshop play--this was a short skit

And this was their baking show where he was one of the British hosts.

Sunday my girls sang a beautiful song for church service with Mr J accompanying them.  Saturday we went to the church so they could practice.  They sang, "I Heard Him Come" which is one of my favorites and so beautiful!

Thanks for coming!  Hope you have a great week!

Went over to my parents' for dinner and my dad was showing Mr J and everyone else how to tie a bow-tie!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 27

Love the 4th of July!  I love my country, love to fly my flag, and love to honor and remember the brave young men and women who have given all so I can be free.  So grateful to those who have served and currently serve to keep us free, and so grateful to their families.  They give a huge sacrifice also!  We had the opportunity to go to a Major League Baseball game to see the KC Royals play.  Two of my girls were selected to sing in a youth choir at the game to sing The National Anthem.  That was pretty awesome to see them!  Enjoyed a BBQ on the fourth with friends and then enjoyed going to the temple as a family on Saturday.  Take a look at our week. ..
Miss O and Miss E singing The National Anthem at the Royals game Monday night.  They were part of a 20 member youth choir picked to sing.  They did awesome!

John Bytheway was throwing the opening pitch at the game, and the girls love him!  He is a religious motivational speaker.  They got to meet him and get a picture as they were getting ready to go in to sing before the game.

The choir getting all lined up and ready to sing.

What is more American than baseball?  And what is a baseball game without cotton candy??  Hello summer!

Our family at the Royals game.  It was fun!  We had good seats right above home base and out of the sun!

4th of July fun involved a water balloon fight at our house-- Mr J attaching Ben

Mowing lawns has been a big part of Mr J's summer.  He ran over a wire and had to spent quite a bit of time getting it off the mower one day this week.  Fun stuff!

Saturday we had the opportunity to head to the city and be together in the KC Temple to do baptisms as a family.  So fun to all go in together!  Sure love these people!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a good week!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 26

Busy, busy week--we were all over the place--literally!  Miss E was in Colorado all week at church camp, and Miss O and I were in Baltimore, Maryland for her National FBLA conference.  Wow!  What a week!  It was a lot of fun, but it was nice to all get back home together on Sunday!  Take a look at our week....
Sunday afternoon before everyone went their separate ways Mr J and Miss O watching videos on her phone

Monday--Miss E and her church camp group on their way to Colorado to camp up in the beautiful mountains!

They went rafting one day they were there.  Miss E back left.  She loved it!

And Miss O and I went to Baltimore.  We had driven through it once a few years ago, but never been there to officially visit.  It is a fun city!  We stayed in the Inner Harbor area which was full of things to do, see and yummy things to eat!

We went out on this boat to tour the Harbor.  That was fun!

The is the Star Spangled Banner Flag house museum and the house on the side is where the first stars and stripes flag was made.  Pretty cool!

This is Fort McHenry with the same type of flay flying that Francis Scott Key saw from about the same place in the water as we were when he wrote The Star Spangled Banner.  This was awesome to see and then hear it played at this spot on the water during our boat tour.

The view from our hotel.  We were close to lots of fun things!

Lots of yummy food!

Another view of the harbor and city from Federal Hill

A view of the Harbor at night

This is the basement of the Baltimore Basilica--the first cathedral in the US--it was pretty cool!

The beautiful Peabody Institute Library

The first Washington Monument--made 50 years before the one in DC, with LaFayette on the horse in front

Enjoying some street vendor food--gingermint lemonade and a chocolate banana crepe--yum!

At the grave of Edgar Allan Poe

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week and a Happy 4th of July!!!
