2018 Blue Jeans Week 43

A beautiful fall week.  Had a medical fair, parent teacher conferences, only 3 days of school, a trip to the city, and some beautiful weather to enjoy the outside.  Take a look at our week. . .
Miss E and 2 friends participated in a medical "science fair" this week.  Their theme was Sleep Apnea, and they did a great job!

Miss E enjoying the beautiful weather and a chance to have the trampoline all to herself.

These two cute college girls went to a concert together and loved it!  Sure love and miss them!

Cute Miss O and her roommates headed to a Halloween party.

On one of the days the kids had off school, Ben took off and we went to the city for some shopping and to explore a new place to eat.  We love the show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" and Guy the host has visited a few places in Kansas City, so we went to one he showcased on his show called Pot Pie--known and on the show for their amazing pot pies--which are one of my favorite foods ever.  It was really, really good.  A fun and unique place that we enjoyed.

Had a beautiful day without school so we took some new friends hiking on the trails by our house and around the lake.  So pretty!

Exploring the caves on the trails by our house.  Love fall weather!

Hope you had a great week!  Thanks for visiting!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 42

A great week of fall here.  We had an outdoor jazz concert, a birthday, a work dinner, a leadership conference, and life is good.  Take a look at our week. . .
Mr J rocking the sax at his outdoor jazz concert this week.  The leaves behind him are so pretty.  Love fall!

Ben and a work banquet this week, and he got to recognize several of his employees that have been with him for several years.  This is his office manager who we all love.

Birthday week for these two!  Their birthdays are just a few days apart, so we have a joint birthday dinner.  My mom made these chocolate eclairs that were amazing!  A perfect birthday cake for my Dad and Ben!

And then Ben gets his own cake on his actual birthday.  He wanted a German chocolate cake this year.  Yummy!

For part of this week Miss E was at a Rotary Youth Leadership camp which she loved.  This was her  group.

Miss E doing the "trust" fall at her leadership camp.  She had an amazing time and learned and grew a lot.

While Miss E was gone, Mr J got out her trombone and was trying it out.  He is much better at his saxophone than Miss E's trombone :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you are having a wonderful fall where you are!  Have a great week!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 41

A fun week....last cross country race of the season, a fall festival, lots and lots (and Lots) of rain, and life is good.  Take a look at our week. . .
Sunday was General Conference for our church--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Miss O and her roommates were able to attend in person for one of the Sunday sessions.  Here they are with one of her cute roommate's little sister.

We have had a lot of rain this week.  6 inches Sunday night.  This falls never happens unless we have tons of rain, so we went on a walk to see the falls this week.  Later in the week, you couldn't even walk where we did because it was underwater we had so much more rain

Mr J has been begging me to make cinnamon rolls, and it finally happened!  My favorite (and the quickest and easiest) are these Flaky Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls--from (of course) Mel's Kitchen Cafe...no yeast, no rising.  You can make them and be eating them in less than an hour.  So good!

More and more rain this week.  This is a picture of our side yard...there is not supposed to be any water here at all, but we have had so much rain, that we have a lake in our side yard.  Thankfully it didn't get close to the house or in the basement.

Final cross country race for the season for this guy.  He did awesome.  Passed this guy at the end to get a medal and ended his season in the top 10 in the league.

Final cross country race for this girl.  She works so hard and her team got league champs for the 3rd year in a row!  WooHoo!  Now she is ready for basketball--her real love!  (but we have about a month until that starts, so that is good)

Love this!   Congratulating each other.  Makes my heart happy.

Our fall festival was this weekend.  It was kind of cold, but thankfully no rain.  Had a fun parade, got some yummy food, and enjoyed being together.  Life is good.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a great week!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 40

Homecoming week is always busy and lots of fun.  We love our small town, the parades, activities, our schools and the awesome people who help and teach our kids!  Take a look at our week. . .
For our church youth group the kids made bottle rockets and then set them off.  Lots of fun!

During homecoming week, each day has a different theme that you can dress up as, one day this week was Fab Family Day where you could dress like a member of your family, Miss E chose to dress like Ben :)

Cross Country race #1 for the week.  In Mr J's race, they had 10 medals.  He was running in 11th place most of the race.  During the last 50 yards he sprinted ahead of the number 10 runner and beat him right before the finish line.  It was awesome to see.  My mom is cheering him on in the background in the white hat.  Go Mr J go!

Cross country race #2 for the week.  Miss E and her team rocked their race!  Their team got 1st place and she got 5th place personally.  Woohoo!

Homecoming parade.  Miss E is the Junior Class President, and so she is in charge of the junior class float.  They had the grim reaper, a graveyard and the buried wildcat :)

The cross country team pushed the old truck of their 76 year old coach, Mr J is back there pushing.  He has been the coach for 50 years and has had the same truck :)

General Conference was this weekend for our church--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  We have it twice a year and receive guidance and direction from our worldwide leaders.  It is always a wonderful weekend!

Miss O and her friends at the football game this weekend.  Lots of fun!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week!

2018 Blue Jeans Week 39

We had a good week.  Finally feeling like fall!  I love fall.  Cross country this week, helping at a soup kitchen, family time in the city, a yummy new ice cream place.  It was a good week.  Take a look. . .
Mr J helping serve at a local soup kitchen which we like to help at once a month.

Cross country meet for the week...Mr J did awesome!  He runs a 2 mile race for middle school.

Miss E's cross country meet for the week...she also did awesome!  Running a 5K is not my idea of fun, and I sure admire these kids for doing it!

Ben was able to join me at this meet.  It was fun to be there all together.

Friday night we headed up to the city to the Temple to do some service as a family.  It was great to be there together.

Afterwords Miss E had seen this video of an ice cream place in downtown KC that makes all their own unique ice cream--Betty Rae's, so we tried it out.  We got The King (banana ice cream with honey and peanut butter chips), goat cheese with apricots and candied walnuts, cinnamon, lemon poppy seed cake, creme brulee caramel, browned butter and pecans, chocolate brownie, and mint and chocolate cookies.  It was good and in an area of the city we have never been before, so that was fun to explore too.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week!
