2020 Blue Jeans Week 30

Had a good week.  Nothing too exciting.  Everyone working hard.  Not going any place.  Enjoying family time and evaluating lots of school options and opening procedures.  Man, that is daunting.  But we are good.  Take a look at our week...
Home church outside this week.

Picture from Miss A and Miss O this week.  They and their roommates tried out a new ice cream place that had a cow couch in front.  They said the ice cream was yummy!

Miss E working on masks for the coming school year for her and her sisters.

Made a pie this week.  Made this pie from Mel's Kitchen Cafe. Yummy!

Family zoom call with my college girls this week.

Miss E and Ben enjoying reading the paper.

And this picture was taken a while ago, but I don't know that I ever shared it.  Miss A decided on attending BYU Law this fall.  So excited for her and so proud of her!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a good week and stay healthy and safe!

2020 Blue Jeans Week 29

Good week.  Nothing too exciting.  Everyone working hard now--Miss E at the hospital, Mr J at the pool (which finally opened for only 3 weeks, but it is still a paycheck, so he is not complaining).  Still have relatively quiet evenings and gearing back up to get things ready to school---Miss E for college and eventually Mr J for high school--whatever that looks like and whenever that starts.  Take a look at our week...
Mr J all dressed up for our at home church.  Handsome kid!

One of our staples during this crazy at home time has been this huge container (we are on our 2nd since mid March, as we ration them) of Jelly Belly jelly beans from Costco.  We pull them out when we play games and watch movies.  They are a good comfort food right now!

Both men of the house working hard on different things--Ben working on a continuing education class and Mr J on some church stuff.

Caught this picture of Miss E and Mr J back by the fire pit after they had been weeding and working back there all morning.  They took a break to relax and I loved the image.  Mr J is sure going to miss his sister when she is gone in a few weeks!

Mr J mowing the lawn this week.

Miss E working on cutting out masks for her and her two older sisters as masks will be required on campus everywhere when school starts for them this fall.  So, Miss E got some cute material for each of them, and we are going to start making masks!  Who would have thought masks would be a required item for school?  The "new normal" I guess???

We had a bonfire this weekend and used the new benches we made.  We got those Reese's peanut butter cup thins and used them to make s'mores.  Yummy!!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a good week!  Stay safe and healthy!

2020 Blue Jeans Week 28

This was a good week.  We got to finally celebrate our amazing Miss E's graduation.  It was as "normal" as I feel we could get it under the circumstances, and I think all the kids and families were grateful.  A great group of kids!  So proud of Miss E and her hard work!  Take a look at our week...
Miss E in all her cool attire at work.  She is a screener at the local hospital.  Two masks, shield, gloves, gown.  Pretty impressive :)

Family project this week.  We had some scrap wood in the shed that Miss E proposed we make benches out of for the fire pit, so Mr J found a pattern and got everything ready, and then we put them together this week.

We were able to do three and they turned out awesome!  Will be perfect for our backyard firepit!

And the graduation is finally here.  Who would have ever thought they would need a mask for graduation?  Definitely something to remember!

Because I am on the school board, I was on stage and able to give her the diploma.  So proud of this girl!  Yes, it was unique being up there in a mask!

So proud of this girl!

And how the graduation was set up--at the football stadium, grads spread out on the bleachers, parents spread out on the field.  It was a nice day, and we finally got it done!

My parents with Miss E.  We missed Ben's parents and the older girls so much, but just not a safe time to travel right now.

So proud of this girl!!!

Woohoo!

Yeah!  She had a Hamilton themed cap and graduation cake too.

Yeah for Miss E!!!!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a great week and are safe and healthy where you are!

2020 Blue Jeans Week 27

Happy 4th of July week!  It was a hot and humid week here.  We enjoyed some family time.  I am so grateful for this country.  It definitely isn't perfect, but we are so blessed to live here.  I am so grateful for the men and women throughout time that have given their all for our freedoms.  I am so grateful for their families.  Their sacrifice is huge.  They sacrifice and put their loved one in harms way, so my family and I can be safe and enjoy the life and freedoms we have.  I am forever grateful!  Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!  Take a look at our week...
Went on an evening walk this week and enjoyed the sunset over the lake on the trails near our house

On a cooler evening, doing family scripture study outside and enjoying the evening.

This guy was super excited this week because he got his first smart phone.  Bought it with his own money from all his hard work this summer.  Wooohoo!

Picture from my girls.  My sister and her family took my girls and some of their friends to an amusement park this past week.  They had a lot of fun!

I have been really diligent about only going to the grocery store once every two weeks since all this crazy started beginning of March.  It has been a good thing.  It is a full cart, but I am glad to limit my trips to the store!

Happy Canada day.  Mr J has the maple syrup out and ready to serve to celebrate :)

Picture from Miss E this week.  She went camping with some of her cousins and sent us this.  So pretty!

Happy 4th of July!  We celebrated just our family with lots of yummy food and drinks.  This layered drink is one of our favorite 4th of July treats.  Recipe from Mel's Kitchen Cafe here

Everyone picked something they wanted to make/eat for the 4th.  Mr J picked 7-layer dip.  Also from Mel's Kitchen Cafe here, and it was yummy!  He did a great job making it!

Went on a 4th of July hike before we had our yummy dinner and enjoyed lighting off our own fireworks and enjoying the others around us.  It was a great day!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a great week too!  Stay safe!

2020 Blue Jeans Week 26

Somehow I got behind.  Not sure how that happened.  So, catching up.  This was puzzle week.  The hot and humid summer weather has hit and even though things are opening back up, there isn't much to do on a hot and humid summer evening that is better than doing a puzzle while listening to a book or watching a movie.  So, lots of puzzles this week and a good book.  Take a look at our week...
We read this book as a family out loud this week.  So funny, but also sad and thought provoking.  Christoper Paul Curtis is a talented writer!

The kids wanted to get outside for a minute and "play tennis" in the driveway one day this week.

We had a puzzle that was missing pieces, so Ben decided he was going to make some replacement pieces.

One of the cool puzzles we did this week.  This is one of our favorites.

Another puzzle this week.  I think these two did about one a day each evening.

Small house project, Ben and Mr J replaced some bathroom faucets this week.

And one more puzzle this week.  We really like the puzzles from White Mountain puzzles.  They have some really cool ones.

Hope you had a good week!
