2017 Blue Jeans Week 12

Ah, spring break how I love you.  Sleeping in is so nice after the daily 5:30 a.m. wake up for seminary/school.  So we all loved our spring break, slept in, read lots of books, made and ate yummy food, and just relaxed.  We didn't go anywhere far, just did a day in the city and did fun things around home.  I had a birthday in the middle of it which was fun too.  Take a look at our week. . .
The week started off great with Free Cone day at Dairy Queen.  Lucky Miss O was working and they gave away over 1,000 free cones that day.  Busy day for her!  We sure enjoyed ours!  Yeah for ice cream and spring break!

Went hiking one day by some cool trails by our house.  Love my explorers :)

Then one day Ben took off and we went to Kansas City to explore for the day.  We visited the National World War I museum which we highly recommend.  It was pretty awesome. See that tall tower?  That is part of it and you can go up to the top and look out.
So we did.  This was the view.  I am a little scared heights, so I admired from as close to the back as I could get :)  It was a beautiful day and a great view of the city.

I have been looking around for unique places to eat, and I read about this tiny little burger place that has been open and making the same burgers since 1937.  Must be good to be around for 80 years!

So we checked it out.  It was tiny, but so good!  They make all their hamburgers with grilled onions and use thin patties.  We all got double cheeseburgers and they were good!  They are also known for their chocolate shakes which we also tried out and YUM!  Just a simple, fun little hamburger place.  Mr J doesn't look too trilled, but he did like his burger :)

Then we ended the day in a great way taking my sister and brother-in-law with us to one of those fancy city theater (yes, we are small town people :) with the fancy recliners and menus....to see Beauty and the Beast.  We LOVED it!  Soooooo good!

And Happy Birthday to me!  We got an amazingly yummy lemon curd cheesecake in the city from Costco.  Oh my--Divine!  Perfect birthday cake for me!  It was a good day!

Hope you had a good week.  Thanks for visiting and come back soon!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 11

We are enjoying a much needed spring break this week.  Last week was a great week--basketball banquet, Miss O ran her cardboard car, and we celebrated Pi Day and St. Patrick's day in our traditional way.  Take a look. . .
Ben got a new lawnmower and had to try it out. . .in the cold (notice his hat and gloves) before the lawn really needs to be mowed (it is still mostly dead), but that is okay.  Boys and their toys :)

Basketball banquet...Miss E with her coach talking about what a hard worker she is.  They had a great season and we are sad that is is over.  I am extremely grateful for good coaches in the lives of my children!  This one is one of the best!

Happy Pi Day!  3.14 :)  We had some extra friends staying with us this week so we could share the pie!  We made a lemon cream and an apple--yummy!

Miss O and her train crew showing off their cardboard car--made only of cardboard, Elmer's glue and one dowel rod for the wheels.  Pretty cool!

They had to run the cars down this ramp and were judged on how far they went--this was for physics class. The whole school came out to see them run.  It was pretty fun.  Their train got 2nd place.  It did really well.  Some of the cars didn't make it down the ramp which was sad after all the work the kids put into it.  I am so grateful for amazing teachers in the lives of my kids!

And Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!  We had our traditional green dinner tonight.  Mel at Mel's Kitchen Cafe had these yummy green muffins here that we made and all loved. Yum!

And hello spring break!!!! Yeah!  We started it off right with donuts for breakfast!!!  Bring on sleeping in!!!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 10

We have had a good week.  Kids only had 4 days of school which was nice.  On their day off Miss O and I went on a college visit.  I don't feel ready to do that all again.  Senior year next year, and I really don't want to do that again, but time marches on whether I want it to or not, so I just need to enjoy this time!  Take a look at our week. . .
Sunday afternoon Ben read to the kids in the kitchen as they finished up the dishes and cleaning up.  Doesn't that look comfy?

Mr J shows off his social studies timeline of Rome.  Pretty cool!

For Miss O's physics class they had to make a car that would hold a person out of only cardboard and Elmer's glue.  This is what her group came up with and then painted it like Thomas the Tank Engine--and yes it does hold a person.  It was pretty cool!

Got up to the city with these ladies today to visit the Temple.  Just a beautiful place and such a pretty day!

No, it was not twin day at school, but these girls still rocked it :)  I asked if they planned that or if it just happened.  They said a little of both.  Sadly no one at school noticed :)

And College visit #1--Miss O and I went to visit the University of Kansas.  They have a very pretty campus.  It was a fun day.  Lots of options!

So the boys had a camp out this weekend for scouts (and the high was 33 with a chance of snow....) so we girls went out to dinner at our favorite BBQ place and enjoyed a movie snuggled up warm in a blanket while the boys camped out somewhere :)

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a good week!!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 9

Spring has sprung here!  Have some daffodils blooming, the pear trees are blossoming.  Love spring!  So nice to be outside too!  We have had a good week.  Miss E started track practice.  Miss O is in the high school musical of The Music Man and has practice for that, and we are doing good.  Very blessed.  Take a look at our week. . .
Learning life lessons....Ben showing Miss O how to change the oil in her car.  She thought it was pretty cool.

Family game time--Rat-a-tat-Cat is an oldie but a goodie card game we all like to play.  Quick and easy to slip in when you don't have a lot of time.  Miss E made us no-bake cookies to enjoy while we played which was even better.  Love family time!

And spring is here!  My first daffodil to blossom.

A picture from Miss A and her week---a dear friend took her and some friends to get ice cream (BYU has the BEST ice cream, so if you ever get there, go to the BYU creamery and get some---divine!) And she sent me a picture!  Made my day!  Love these girls!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!  To celebrate we had none other than. . . green eggs and ham (and pancakes).  Love it!  You can never be too old for Dr. Seuss!  Mr J and Miss O made green eggs and ham pancake tacos :)

More signs of spring that Mr J showed me.  Love the colors of nature!

So Miss O has a huge physics group project she is working on--they have to make a cardboard car that will carry a person down a ramp. . . so our basement has been full of cardboard pieces as she and her group put it together.  Going to be cool to see if it works out!  Keeping our fingers crossed because, man, they have put in a lot of work on it!!  Will try to get a picture of the finished project.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great week!!!
