2017 Blue Jeans Week 38

It has been a good week, still hot here, and still waiting for fall temperatures, but all is well.  Busy with school and cross country and life in general.  Grateful for all our blessings!  Take a look at our week. . .
For Valentine's day Ben gave me a card that had each month of the year on it, and he was going to get me flowers each month of the year.  He has done really well remembering to do that--even if it is the last day of the month sometimes :)  But a few months ago for my monthly flowers he bought and planted all these vincas in this big pot in our back yard.  They have filled in and look so pretty right now!  Love looking out my kitchen window and seeing them pop with color!

Mr J has been enjoying some lego sets in his spare time.  We sure do love legos!

Cross country race of the week.  Got a picture of Mr J running this week.  In middle school they run both the girls and boys together, and it was a hot, hot day!  He did a great job, though!  His first season.

A picture from Miss A for this week.  She and some cute roommates went to listen to a favorite speaker of ours--John Bytheway.  We have several of his talks on CD and love listening to them in the car.  Abigail said he was awesome to listen to and meet!

Friday night the band hosted a family BBQ and baseball watching party.  We are all watching the game as we waited for the yummy food, and Miss E loves getting her picture taken :)  Go Royals!

Saturday they had a craft making day at the church called Super Saturday.  My girls went with me, and we made some cute stuff--getting a jump on Christmas presents!

Hope you all have a great week!  Thanks for visiting!!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 37

It has been a good week.  Another cross country race, another football game, more homework and life, and a dance concert.  Life is good--I wish we had more fall-like temperatures to go along with it, but we will take what we get.  Take a look at our week...
This amazing young lady received her Young Womanhood medallion at church today--see that beautiful necklace?  It represents hours and hours and hours of work.  It is equal to the Eagle scout award for Boys.  LOTS OF WORK!  And I am so proud of Miss O for doing all that work!!!

Miss O running hard in her cross country race this week.  It was HOT!  Where are our fall temps?  Running in over 90 degree weather is not fun, but she did awesome!

And Miss E and her teammate staying strong.  Their team did awesome again and both girls medaled.  It was a good meet despite the heat!!

The awesome JV girls team before the race--all happy and ready to go :)

Friday night lights mean half time band shows which we love!  Miss O rocking it on her mellophone at halftime on Friday night.

We got some season tickets to a performing arts series in the city this year.  Tonight we enjoyed a contemporary dance concert that was awesome!  A fun night out as a family in the city.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a great week!!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 36

We sure enjoyed our Labor Day weekend.  We need 3 day weekends more often!  Miss A started school this past week on Tuesday.  Another cross country meet, and we will be hosting a foreign exchange student this year from Thailand.  She is here the whole year, but will only be with us for a few months as she is living with other families in our town too, but we got to meet her and have her a few days this week.  Exciting week.  Take a look. . .
To start off Labor Day Miss E and Ben decided to experiment with different pancake recipes, so they made 4 different kinds for breakfast--Yummy!

Showing off their pancake creations--banana, chocolate chip, strawberry cream cheese and lemon blueberry.

After a yummy pancake breakfast we headed to play pickle ball.  Have you ever played that?  It is similar to tennis only on a much smaller court.  It was a lot of fun!

And Miss A on her first day of her sophomore year of college!

Cross county meet for the week.  A friend took this picture.  My girls are on the sidelines very enthusiastically cheering on their team mate!  LOVE the cheering section!

And my girls during their race.  Miss O with Miss E right behind her.  Their team got 2nd which was awesome and both girls medaled.  It was a good meet!

We had our foreign exchange student who will be living with us later in the year come for a few days.  Her name is Miss M, and she is from Thailand.  We had a bonfire and roasted hot dogs and had smores.  She had never done that nor had those foods before.  We thought it was a pretty good American thing to do :)  Smores are a favorite at our house, and we were happy to share them with her!

Hope you had a great week!  Thanks for visiting!!

2017 Blue Jeans Week 35

Busy full week of school!  A hard week as well as Miss A headed back to college, and we won't see her until Christmas!  That was hard!  First cross country meet, first football game, lots of stuff this week.  Take a look...
Once a week we have what we call family home evening.  We have a lesson, sing songs, play games, eat treats, and someone shares a favorite scripture.  Miss O was on scripture, and she shared one that was on our egg carton :) "This is the Day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it" Psalms 118:24.  Love it!

And this is the last time these 4 will be together until Christmas.  Makes my heart hurt!  Will sure miss that Miss A!!

My lunch date at Chick-fil-A before I dropped her at the airport.  The frosted lemonade made it a little easier to say good-bye :)

Last first cross country meet for Miss O, and her sister has her back--Miss E right beside her.  Their team got first!!!  A great way to start the season, and I love watching my girls run together.

And this was Mr J's first ever cross country meet as a 7th grader.  7th graders are only supposed to run a mile, but this meet had them running 2 miles.  His coach was not happy, but Mr J had a good attitude.  I asked him how it went, "Well, it wasn't the worst race ever.  I didn't get last and I didn't throw up, so it was pretty good."  Ah!  Love his attitude!

These cuties were unintentionally twins as they went to school today.  They are both involved in Student government--Miss E as class pres and Miss O as student body secretary.  These are their Student government shirts that Miss O designed.
And love football season because it is marching band season :)  Miss O is out there playing the mellophone.  Miss E is only doing jazz band this year, so no marching band for her.   And we even had some fall like temps to go with the first cross country meet and first football game, so Life is Good!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you had a good week too!
