2016 Blue Jeans Week 43

Enjoying a fall week.  Lots of costumes around here and pre-Halloween fun to be had.  Take a look at our week. . .
Is there ever not a reason to get a blizzard?  Not in my book :)  Enjoyed a sweet treat with this cute kid today.

The girls cross country team with their league champ shirts---love the girl with a cap on them :)  So proud of these girls!!

Miss E and Miss O did a science fair project this week on Total Disc Replacement.  They did a lot of work and it looked great!

Halloween costumes round one---before the trunk or treat for church on Wednesday night.

Thursday and Friday of this week there was no school.  Friday was a very nice day, and we had a picnic at the park with some friends.  The kids had fun playing with our ribbon wands.

School Halloween dance tonight and these cuties are winter and fall :)   They worked very hard on those costumes!!!  Love it!

We made homemade soft pretzels for dinner Saturday night--the kind you boil before you bake.  Yummy!  The kids were good at rolling out the dough and shaping it.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you all had a great week!  Come back soon!

2016 Blue Jeans Week 42

We had a fun week!  Double birthdays with Ben and my dad, I made a barn quilt with some girlfriends, last cross country race of the season, and enjoyed the fall weather.  Take a look at our week. . .
Next week is our yearly primary program which is where the kids ages 3 to 11 speak and sing for our main service.  Mr J was asked to play prelude music for it next week, and he was practicing on the organ for it.  I was impressed!  He played both feet!  Organ playing is very different than piano.  My mom was watching him :)  She was impressed too!

Had an awesome Girls' Day Out and painted some Barn Quilts.  Aren't they cool?  They are meant to go outside.  Once I get mine hung up I will have to post a picture.  I was impressed with everyone's!  So much fun!!!

It wouldn't be Halloween season without making and decorating our pumpkin shaped sugar cookies.  Yum!  They are a big and important and very yummy tradition at our house!

Celebrated my Dad's birthday with his favorite homemade banana cream and coconut cream pies.  Yum!

And real life---it is full of lots of dirty laundry :)  I felt like I was drowning in it today!

And happy birthday to this amazing guy!  He loves to get his picture taken :)  Sure love him!!!

And we had our last cross country race of the season.  The girls got 4th in regionals and only the top 3 teams go to state, but we were happy with that.  We came a long way in the season!  Just Miss O ran in this race.  Miss E was alternate.  It has been a great season!  Now we have 3 weeks off until basketball practice starts :).

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week!!!

2016 Blue Jeans Week 41

Running a little late as usual.  Last week was a great week.  We had regional cross country and both our girls and our boys got first place--League champs!  Woohoo!  It was fun to see the girls running together!  Miss A had a great week with homecoming week at BYU.  We are finally feeling more like fall here, and we are loving it!  Take a look at our week. . .
Mr J likes to cook and one of his specialties is bread sticks.  They are yummy!

For our weekly young women activity this week we had a lady come and show us some cool hair styles and braids to do.  Fun stuff!

A photo from Miss A---at the BYU library they own 2 of the original copies of The Book of Mormon first published in March 1830.  They get them out every so often and allow the students to see them.  She was so excited and sent me this picture from her week "Got to hold an original Book of Mormon!"  Awesome!

And another picture from Miss A---it was homecoming week for her and they had an awesome football game that she enjoyed seeing with her cousins.  Love seeing her there with family!  And even better they won the game in double overtime which she said was awesome!!!

League cross country--those are my girls!

And the league champions!  Those are my girls!!!! :)

Miss E had an awesome opportunity to attend her friend's very fancy quinceanera mass, dinner and dance.  Here she is all dressed up and ready to go.  It was a neat experience for her.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week and come back soon!

2016 Blue Jeans Week 40

It was a quieter week this week.  Miss O was gone for most of the week to a Rotary youth leadership camp, so we only had 2 kids home most of the week.  We had a crazy scary storm roll through this week.  Tornado sirens went off, we were in the basement with our power out, and the power was off for 21 hours!  I was getting ice and coolers to save my fridge food.  It was crazy!  But thankfully nothing touched down by us, but we did get 5 inches of rain in a matter of hours and hail.  Again our house was fine and everything and most importantly everyone in it, but after 21 hours without power we were very grateful to have it back on.  It is amazing the things we take for granted, and my prayers go out to all those in the paths of hurricanes because we really have nothing to complain about.  Anyway, here is a look at our week. . .
A picture from Miss A--on Sunday she and her friends got to attend a session of our Church's General Conference in the Conference Center on Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City.  What an awesome experience for her!

While she was watching it live, we watched at home and enjoyed our traditional conference weekend breakfast--aebelskivers--which are a round Danish pancake which we love to eat with nutella and bananas.  Yum!

Love hearing these two play duets together!  This is a first for them!

It was our town's annual celebration this week.  The parade is a big deal, and we had gorgeous weather after the scary storm and rain we got earlier in the week.  We enjoyed watching it from the tailgate of my dad's truck.  We only had Mr J to watch it with though because Miss O was gone at a camp and Miss E was marching in the parade with the band.  I love small town parades!

As part of the celebration they had a carnival in town.  Mr J and his little friend really loved this ride.  I think they rode it 8 times. . . :)

We had a talent show at church this weekend.  Miss E is playing the piano for her friend who sang and Mr J also played a piano solo, but here he was in charge of turning the pages for Miss E while she played :)

Another picture from Miss A and her week----she and some friends did a breakout room which is where you are "locked in" a room and have to figure out clues to get back out.  She loved it!   One of her favorite things so far she said :)

And Miss O came back home after 4 days at a Rotary Youth Leadership Academy just glowing because she LOVED it sooooo much!  Rotary is such a great organization, and they do a great job investing in our youth.  It was really an amazing experience for Miss O.  Thank you Rotary!

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you have a great week and come back soon!

2016 Blue Jeans Week 39

Homecoming week here is always a big deal--parade, football game, dance.  We added a bonfire in there too.  Always a fun week!  Miss A continues to do well.  Lots of homework, but well.  It is finally feeling like fall here, and we are loving it!  Take a look at our week. . .
My photo from Miss A.  Miss A and her roommate hiked to the Y!  A  BYU tradition!

Mr J got to go to the city and attend the symphony with my parents.  Lucky kid!

Half-time performance---Miss O playing the mellophone

Miss E playing the baritone.

Career day at school.  Mr J dressed up as a scientist :) love it!

The cross country meet this week was so much better than last week's 109!  It was only 70 degrees and the girls were loving it!   The girls got first as a team, and Miss E got 2nd in her JV race!  Way to go girls!!!!

Homecoming parade--Miss O and Miss E right in the middle there.  A beautiful day for a parade!

Big bonfire at our house before the homecoming dance.  Hot dogs and smores, can you get better than that?

The junior girls ready to go to the dance

And the freshman girls ready for their first high school homecoming dance!  Lots of fun!!

Thanks for visiting!  Come back soon!  Have a great week!
