2023 Blue Jeans Week 38

It was a fun and busy week!  I wish we had more fall like temps, but we are still in the 90's. Way too hot for end of September!!  Take a look at our week..

On Sunday I was in a baking mood, so I made two different batches of muffins--mini banana chocolate chip and applesauce oatmeal.  Breakfast for this week is done!

Had my monthly girls' lunch out with my dear friends!  Sure love them!!!

This is my amazing work team!  They are awesome!!

Just a friendly reminder my female friends--get your yearly mammogram done! Got mine done this week!

Picture from Mr J this week--he got a haircut!  I have cut his hair his whole life, so first time ever to go to a salon :) Looks good!

Mr J and Miss E doing some temple service this week!  Love to see them together!

Friday night Mrs OC and Mr JC came down.  We did a pizza night, and watched the movie A Million Miles Away (thanks for the recommendation A.P.!!) So good!

On Saturday we did some blow dart egg practice.  Mrs OC had some rotten eggs we took turns trying to hit :)

Fun at a college football game!  Our team was playing fairly close, so we got tickets and went to the game--sadly they lost, but we still have fun!  And it was not a cool fall football game, but a hot and sticky one!

2023 Blue Jeans Week 37

A pretty quiet week here. That is one thing we have definitely noticed with the kids gone that the house is very quiet!  It was a good week.  Take a look...

My September cake was a pumpkin cake with a browned butter maple frosting.  Hello fall!

Getting some puzzles out again to do in the evening as it starts to get dark earlier. Yes, this is a Christmas puzzle, but I got it a few months ago, and we had never done it, so we needed to break it open!

Enjoyed a bike ride one evening and a beautiful sunset!

My sweet friend had me over to her house for lunch this week.  I love her! It was fun!

Finishing up the puzzle! It was a fun one and will look forward to doing it again in December!

Saturday, we figured we better drive Mr J's car every once in a while, so we took it out when we had to go to the store.

2023 Blue Jeans Week 36

What a week of adjustments!  We started off the week finishing up our "empty-nesters honeymoon" and then we came home to a really quiet house, and it is sure an adjustment!  I think it is getting a little better each day. First days of school for many and first day of work for Mrs A!  Talk a look at our week...

Our last bike ride before we headed home.  We had a wonderful time!  Bring on a new phase of life!

First day of school as a college freshman for Mr J! I was happy he sent me a picture!

First day of school for Miss E's senior year of college!  I was also very happy she sent me a picture too!

First day of work as an attorney for Mrs A! And first day of school in PhD program year 2 for Mr A! Also very happy they sent me  a picture :)

Friday night pizza night.  Two pizzas for two people are totally appropriate!

Saturday was a major workday for us around the house as we have been gone and before we left it was way too hot to do anything outside.  Got the house cleaned, yard weeded, and picked our apples to make some applesauce!

We thought we had a lot of apples but cooking them down for applesauce really reduces the amount!  But it is really yummy!

2023 Blue Jeans Week 35

So this was a monumental week.  We took our youngest child to college. We are officially empty nesters!  We dropped him off and went on an "empty-nesters honeymoon" for a few days and loved it!  Coming home to real life and no kids has been an adjustment for sure! But Mr J is loving school, so that is good!

Had a family dinner at my parents which was fun to have everyone there!

Made another cake for this month.  Miss E decorated it.  It is a cream cheese cake with graham cracker crust with a cream cheese filling and raspberry compote.  It was VERY good!

We took two cars out--our van with the bikes on it, and then Miss E's new (to her) car. This was our view for the long drive.

We stopped by and spent the night with Ben's mom and dad. It was good to see them!

We spent the night with Mr and Mrs A who just got back from Italy the day before!  So good to see them!!!  Now just missing Mrs OC and Mr JC!

Got Mr J all moved in and unpacked in his dorm room. Looking good! He is excited!

The day after we moved Mr J in, we left and stopped in our favorite mountain town in Colorado for an "empty-nester honeymoon" It was so nice!

We did a lot of bike riding!

2023 Blue Jeans Week 34

This was a great week.  We loved having Miss E home for a week. Mr J finished up his summer job, and Mrs OC and Mr JC came down to visit.  Loved having everyone here, but missing Mr and Mrs A who are still in Italy!

Cake of the month---this is a cornbread cake with a cream cheese frosting and a blackberry compote. It was really good!

Fun games together!

Mr JC and Mrs OC came and helped us at the soup kitchen this weekend.  It was great having them help!

This awesome kid has been working at the bank as a teller this summer. It has been a great summer job for him, and today was his last day of work.

Ben ordered a new bike, and Miss E helped him put it together!

We love it when Miss E is home because she makes the best food!  After her summer abroad and cooking classes in Italy and France, we love it when she makes homemade pasta!

Mr J is slowly getting his stuff packed to take to college. He is stacking it in the extra bedroom which is also my office, so I am feeling slightly claustrophobic!

Miss E made this amazing bread when she was home!  So good!

Saturday Ben has some meetings, so the kids and I went to lunch and around town. The kids have fun playing checkers at the park.

And it was really not busy at all, so we tried to get a Beatles shot :) I don't know how well we did :)

2023 Blue Jeans Week 33

Catching up.  Life is good.  Just not a lot of time to get caught up on things.  This was the week of Aug 13-19. It was a great week!  Miss E came home, and we had a super special day with Mr J.

Love the clouds today! A storm was rolling in.

It was a cool evening, so we went for a bike ride together. 

These are my go-to work snack.  I eat way too many of them in the afternoons to stay awake some days :)

Went to the movies with my friend. We went to see Sound of Freedom.  Wow. It was powerful. Unlike any movie I have ever seen. I highly recommend!

Super special day today as Mr J made the decision to make some significant commitments to the church and Jesus Christ. We were so happy to have so much family there!  We were missing Mr and Mrs A who were in Italy! 

My mom, and my sister and brother-in-law also joined us!  It was a great day!

Went to a fun lego store.  Mr and Mrs A were in Italy and sent us a picture of them at the colosseum, so we had to show them we saw it too :)

Loving our outside pizza oven! It was Miss E's first time to try it out, and she loved it!
