Friday thoughts

Some more flower pictures this Friday.  .  .
My side yard is full of my tulips. Also my purple alliums are blooming and my iris have started to bloom.  Love spring.

Just a close up of a beautiful peach and pink tulip.  These mixed on their own.  I didn't plant this mix.  They are next to the white and magenta ones that also mixed on their own.  Gorgeous!

And I love my alliums!!!  Some more of the 100 plus bulbs I planted 2 years ago in the fall.  These are about 3 inches in diameter.  I have bigger ones that get about 6-8 inches but they aren't all the way out yet.  Love them!

White tulips.  So pretty against the green.

And the first of my iris just bloomed this week.  A beautiful white one

I wish you could smell through the computer screen.  These are "root beer" iris and have the most delicious smell of any flower!  Amazing!

And what have I done since I got home Tuesday night from Omaha?  Run to keep up with my kids but also bake more cookies than I could believe possible.  I think I baked 15 dozen chocolate chip cookies this week.  I even ran out of chocolate chips, and for a girl who buys them in bulk, that is saying something.  We needed cookies this week for 2 track teams--middle school and high school, one National Honor Society meeting and one forensics team going to state.  Feeding lots of kids here :)  But I love it.  Cookie making runs in my blood.  It get it from my amazing grandma DeeDee who can whip out a batch of cookies faster than you can blink.  She is my cooking inspiration, and if she had just a quarter for every cookie she has made,  individually wrapped and given away, she would be a billionaire, and I am not exaggerating.  Her cookies have been sent all over the globe.  Her generosity knows no bounds.  She inspires me.  Love you DeeDee!  I am carrying on your cookie making tradition :)

Have a great weekend!  See you Monday--if I am not still behind and late which I just might still be so bear with me :)

2012 Blue Jeans Week 34

We made it through the first full week of school.  We had some changes on the home front with church callings.  Ben was called as early morning seminary teacher.  So he teaches high school kids (4 kids total including our Miss A) from our church from the New Testament every morning from 6:10 a.m. to 7 a.m.  He teaches in our basement.  I was released from the Relief Society (women's organization) presidency and put in the Young Women's presidency so I get to be with my two oldest girls.  I meant to get a picture of Ben teaching in the morning this week, but honestly I don't get up that early.  Maybe next week :)

Sunday:  Mr J and Miss E wanted to make cookies today.  They wanted the peanut butter ones with the Hershey's kisses in the middle--yum!   I was happy to oblige.  They are one of our family's favorite cookies.

Monday:  For our family night treat Miss E was in charge, and she made ice cream cookie sandwiches-yum!  Our family really likes cookies, and ice cream makes them even better!

Tuesday:  Today after school it was windy out, and Miss E decided it would be fun to 'fly' on the trampoline.  She had the best time as the wind whipped her blanket as she jumped.  The trampoline is one of our family's favorite things.

Wednesday:  Mr J had a rough night last night.  He is starting to develop bad allergies, so he was up for several hours during the night because he couldn't breathe through his nose, and then he had some nightmares.  After being up from 3 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.  I was not waking him up for school at 7, so I let him sleep.  He slept until 10 a.m, and then he woke up, walked down the stairs and said to me in a very groggy, sleeply voice, "Mom, you forgot to take me to school!"  :)  so we quickly got him ready and to school by 10:30.

Thursday:  Sonic happy hour is another favorite thing of our family's.  It is very convienent that Sonic is right on the way home after picking up the kids from school.  Vanilla limeades are my kids' favorites, and I love a lemonberry fruit slush.

Friday:  Sometimes I substitute in the kids' elementary school.  Today I was working in their library, and Mr J's class came in.  So I snapped a picture of him reading at his library table, atleast he was supposed to be reading, but then he saw his mother taking a picture of him, and he stuck a book over his face because he was embarrased.  Yes, I am that kind of mom :)

Saturday:  Our girls had a church basketball tournament up in the city today.  They played really well and got 3rd place, but it was a very long day.  We left at 7 a.m. and didn't get home until 5 p.m., and after 6 basketball games we were very tired!

Thanks for visiting.  I posted the directions for the bleached shirts on the post before this if you didn't get to see them.  Have a great week!

Blue Jeans Week 11

You know with the time change and "spring forward" I think it put everything on fast forward.  Anyone else feel like that?  Hope your week wasn't too crazy!
Sunday:  Sunday afternoons are usually not too crazy, thank heavens.  Mr. J and I spread out the puzzles on the kitchen table and had some puzzle time together.  Mr. J has always been a big puzzle fan.  His Thomas the Train and the US states puzzles are his favorite.
Monday:  For family night treats Ben helped the kids make "Magic in the middle" chocolate cookies.  You make the chocolate cookie dough and then you make a peanut butter dough that you wrap the chocolate dough around and bake.  When you bit into the chocolate cookie you get a smooth peanut butter center.  Oh yum!  I can't believe I have been married to this amazing man for over 15 years, and he has never made these for me before!  I am requesting them once a week now, they are so good!  Chocolate and peanut butter, is there a better combination?
Tuesday:  One new thing the girls--especially Miss E--got into over spring break is cross-stitching.  Miss E concentrates very hard on her latest cross stitch design--and she jumped to this task before she got dressed or combed her hair or anything :)
Wednesday:  I think Sunday afternoon Mr. J, Miss E and I started the game of Life.  We finally finished it this evening, so it has been out on our coffee table in the family room for the last 4 days.  I don't remember it taking that long to play when I was a kid, but my kids sure enjoyed it.  I always loved being the banker when I played, but Miss E insisted on being banker when we played this time--just something about controlling all the money--even when it is fake and pink, blue and orange.

Thursday:  Girls Lunch Out--went with my girlfriends to an awesome greenhouse about 45 minutes away and got some pretty flowers to plant, now if the weather would just co-operate so I could plant them!  Love my girlfriends!
Friday:  April Fool's Day.  Miss A was so on the ball for jokes today.  My van and Ben's car were both covered in play food.  Each of the kids woke up with some kind of drawing or stickers on their face--Miss E had whiskers, Mr J had stars and Miss O had stickers.  She hid everyone's toothbrushes, and I couldn't find my toothbrush anywhere and considering calling the school to ask her where she had hid it, when I finally found it.  She made our day really fun.
Saturday:  Soccer--let it begin--games started today.  We had 4 this morning--ugh--Mr J had 2 and Miss E had 2.  So glad soccer is only a one month sport.  Mr J had two games, and after the first he told me he was done for the season.  It was really had to get him to go back for his second game.  How am I going to keep him going for 4 more weeks?  Funny kid.  He is number 10 on the A&W orange team.  Go orange!
