2015 Blue Jeans Week 6

First week of February was good for us.  It wasn't too crazy.  No basketball games or pepband which was nice for a change.  This next week will make up for that, but we only have 3 days of school and then 4 off, so we can deal with it.  Here is a look at our week. . .
We don't have "TV" at our house meaning, we have a TV, but no cable, channels, etc.  You can turn the TV on, but nothing is there.  We haven't had TV since Miss A--who is now 17--was 6 months old.  But with the internet now, you can watch a lot of things.  We love the PBS website and the shows they have (hello Downton Abbey :).  A recent favorite we have been watching--and you can watch all the past episodes online at anytime--is The Great British Baking Show.  So fun!  Each week the bakers have a different challenge and 3 different things they have to make in a certain time period.  At the end of the show 1 person is crowned "Star Baker" and one is eliminated.  It airs on TV on Sundays, but all episodes are available online anytime.  My kids--and Ben and I-- really love it.

Haven't done an update on our Art Wall lately.  Mr J brought home this snow globe from art last week, and I just loved it!  So cute!  The snowflake is his too.

Getting ready for Valentine's Day.  Everyone got working on their Valentine's.  Always a fun thing to do.

Sunday evenings we always have desserts.  Sunday night treat is what we call it.  This week I had seen the chocolate strawberry shortcake on Mel's Kitchen Cafe, and decided I was going to do it.  Yum!  The kids said, "Wow!  That is fancy!" and we all enjoyed it.  Always fun to try something new, and it is nice when it turns out good :)

Got our traditional family Valentine's box done.  We decorate one every year and then fill it with Valentines for each other.  We open it and give them out on Valentine's day.

Each of the kids decorates a side, and Ben and I do one together.  It is a great tradition.

Thanks for visiting!   Come back soon!

  2. Hi Jen - Do you really make a new Valentine box each year? Lindsey made me one a few years ago because my original one had fallen apart.

Love the meatballs. The recipe is in the family cookbook and I have used it several times. Yum. Have a fantastic Valentines Day. Love the Hammond tradition.
